Straight to the chase here folks I am a reserve in my office I don't get 1 in 6 Saturdays off and I don't have a set rota for my days off..When the vast majority of the office gets 1 in 6 off and they have a set rota for days off..This must be wrong and a form of discrimination Yes or no guys?

Re: Days off and 1 in 6 Saturdays
We don't have any 1 in 6 Saturdays off in our office at all. Asked about it once and was blinded by bulls*** as to the reasons why. And that was from our union rep!!!

Re: Days off and 1 in 6 Saturdays
no sorry dude its not, as you said your a reserve and can be used as and where your DIM sees fit, as long as you get one day off a week, I'm afraid that's it.
at our office they fiddle it so every bank holiday Monday the reserves get it as their day off meaning a day in lieu.

its is wrong but its not discrimination
You are entitled to 1 in 6 saturdays off on average (you might not get it every 1 in 6 weeks but should average out over the year)
Rotating days off your onto a loser on it is impossible to schedule this for reserves unless the DOM dictates the entire holiday leave to suit it or by paying OT, first is obviously out the window so the only way to make that work would be to pay OT to other posties to work their days off to allow this to happen, its not economical to do, and in smaller offices these posties might refuse the OT and then baclk to square one anyway

BT 2010 page 26
Whilst the precise number of Saturdays off and the aspirations of employees will vary from unit to unit, both parties believe we can deliver cost effective and reliable options that will maximise the number of Saturdays off for those who wish them. Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least 1 in 4 Saturdays off for the majority of employees (including reserves) during the roll out of the operational transformation programme

Re: Days off and 1 in 6 Saturdays
Being a reserve makes no difference at all, we are all employed on the same terms and conditions. If postie A is entitled to 1in 6, so are you. I was a reserve and kept getting Tuesdays off, so went to my manager and asked for a rotate day off ,which I got with no fight . If they refuse, take out a grievance and do not let it drop. Email Moya if necessary, do NOT take no for an answer.saddlerposty wrote:no sorry dude its not, as you said your a reserve and can be used as and where your DIM sees fit, as long as you get one day off a week, I'm afraid that's it.

Re: Days off and 1 in 6 Saturdays
1st Question.. Why did the union sign up to this agreement if it's was clearly not FOR ALL IT'S MEMBERS..
2nd Question..What are the Union going to do about this UNFAIR procedure ?
and last but not least I bet any postperson in my shoes would be hacked off as well at this sell out.

I take your points, it is for all, the problem is down to enforcement, like everything else if they can get away with it , they will. The enforcement and fairness issue is local, the union probably naively ,thought local offices would be compliant. More fool them.P739 wrote:1st Question.. The problem we have is that we will not stick together ,I was told by my rep that he could go to disagreement on this, but the next step would have been a ballot for strike action, (pre this appalling new deal I think), as he pointed out , the office is hardly going to vote for that are they? Which again comes down to the sticking together, instead of the "I'm alright Jack",attitude, if we stuck together we would be unbeatable, sadly we don't,and are!
Look after yourself and stick two fingers up, ask repeatedly for what you are entitled to. Persistent is the key, keep going on and on ,become an irritation, that is the only way you will get what you want. Do not trust any manager to sit the right way round on the toilet.

Sorry does not wash with me the Union went into this with their eyes wide open they knew who and what they were dealing with....Someone who will bend a stretch the rules ,lie and manipulate the rules for their on benefit at every opportunity The Union should have made this water tight after all the Union has had years of practise at this game..For me it's stinks of the Union men in suites being so far out of touch with the rank and file member's They basically don't have a clue what your average postie has to put up with on a daily basicsJamesethefirst wrote:I take your points, it is for all, the problem is down to enforcement, like everything else if they can get away with it , they will. Well exactly why I said naively, because they are out of touch,RM run rings round them constantly. But we are the ones that suffer ,including our friend here,P739.P739 wrote:Sorry does not wash with me the Union went into this with their eyes wide open they knew who and what they were dealing with....Someone who will bend a stretch the rules ,lie and manipulate the rules for their on benefit at every opportunity The Union should have made this water tight after all the Union has had years of practise at this game..For me it's stinks of the Union men in suites being so far out of touch with the rank and file member's They basically don't have a clue what your average postie has to put up with on a daily basicsJamesethefirst wrote:I take your points, it is for all, the problem is down to enforcement, like everything else if they can get away with it , they will.
