new way of working in callers office
rm have just brought in a new system into the callers office, everything scanned in on pdas as before then you have to book in the name, address and postcode plus type of item then scan again the recorded, priority or tracked item and a numbered receipt is then printed out.so far so bad.the took out booking in section in our office some time ago saying it is time consuming, but now instead of 2 staff we now have 6,2 to book in 2 on the window and 2 believe or not condencing the shelfs so we do not run out of room this is before the returns start to kick in,still items cannot be found through not coming back when the staff asked about xmas,a lot more items coming in,the answer was that is a different beast,or suck it and see.i think that is managment speak.the military term is snafu,if you dont know ask on old timer.

Same as our office. It's going to be a nightmare, especially when the queue is out of the door and there's only a couple of staff in there.

Re: new way of working in callers office
was told orignally that extra staff would be put in place, manager not so sure .now, usuall comment of do what you can, taking staff out as well . the staff we have only in the enquiry office not because they want to be because they are on rehab.the booking in needs to be done mid to late afternoon, but because we are attatched to delivery nobody managers included want to be there after 1600.vague threats made to staff that if they are not satisfied there are walks to be done, and i thought bullying and aggresive behaviour was a thing of the past hay ho.at least in the times past the managers were there because they knew the job not who they knew, looking on the bright side at least the managers will get their bonus for bringing all the changes on time, and the shareholder will be pleased because the workforce has now whats the word ahh yes absorbed the workload
