Mail Centre Reps getting docket frontline suffer

Another week goes past, most of are reps are good work on the floor and show the right example, but we have 2 or 3 who live in the Union Room, Open docket up to 30hrs each while our overtime and earnings get less and less. If you say anything you get bullied or you wont get an SA which they control.......... Just wished the Managers would deal with it, Chelmsford Mail Centre is the route of double standards. Come on CWU show an example and reduce your earnings like us on the floor.

So have you tried to become a union rep then lead by example?

Or are you another back stabbing weasel constantly watching how many hours other people get O/T and kick up a fuss if they get 10 mins more than you

What has being a rep got to do with him wanting an equal share of any overtime that is available, hope your not implying that being a rep you get 1st pick of any overtime available, calling him a weasel is pathetic.

I used to work in Chelmsfordd mail centre, before the Southend merger, and I had plenty of run ins with union reps in the office both as a postie and as an acting manager, so I have no particular love for the people I know you are talking about. However CMC has about 800 staff over 4 shifts 7 days a week 24 hours a day. So I think you could understand that the reps need to be available at various times for various reasons across the entire workforce. This will mean that they spend more time on union duties than they do on the floor, it also means that they will spend a massive amount of their own time working for the members and NOT being paid for it. Reps need to be available for stage interviews, disciplinary hearings etc and the more serious the issue the more senior the rep required and also the greater amount of time required to sort the issues out. This does mean that you might only see them in the union room or doing o/t but I promise you that when you need them you will be grateful they don't turn round and say 'sorry mate, I'm not on duty and I'm foregoing my overtime in solidarity with the membership, do you mind sorting out your own stage three?'

what normally happens is union reps get plenty of docket often that is ghost docket
in exchange for not rocking the boat ,,,,,,,,and helping the managers push through what royal mail want
