hi all i,m a bit confused at our office we are lapsing best part of the week yet on days we lapse we have people coming in early on OVERTIME doing ips i thought lapsing was supposed to save money got no problem doing the lapsing but it just does not make any sense unless its to keep his chosen few happy.

Dom is probably paying out less for OT on IPS than it would cost to get someone in for the full duty

IPS may need 8 hours worth of sorting (for example) and only 6 hours are available due to staff/skills shortage - would need to put in 2 hours early sorting to pull this back to 8 hours. You COULD lapse the 2 hours indoors, but then the sorters get off late, your walks don't get prepped as your still throwing your walk in late!! Then you wouldn't be able to lapse because you would be taking walk out late.
