WHAT WOULD BE WRONG WITH MONTHLY PAY???

Just to throw this one into the hat,would it really be such a bad thing to get paid monthly? At my last job as a courier i was paid monthly,yes in the first month its awkward but after that you get used to it.

Thoughts please

Not too bad now wer'e doing our jobs properly, but prior to this it seems like a very long time to keep track of any overtime you might have performed,left us open to a lot of underpayments that would have gone unchecked.

I was on monthly pay in my last job and found it hard to manage on. The part time staff will find it hard going as they are on low money already

My last job was with the MOD, when we went monthly they gave us a Â£100 incentive to do it and a months wage up front which we paid back at Â£25 per month if you wanted it, wonder if RM will do the same

I have been paid monthly and prefer it. However Royal Mail have not announced how they will phase it in, or how they will help employees switch over.

At present it appears as though they expect you to survive 31 days on 7 days pay, and that wont even cover my rent. If they are going to help us make the switch why don't they publicise it and perhaps this will be one issue that would be solved, but no RM and its arrogant approach to everything they try to force it in without talking and bringing the workforce along with them.

They do appear to have a "Poll Pot" approach to industrial relations. Namely "We are right and you should accept the consequences of our decisions whatever they are without question"

When they moved Network drivers onto monthly pay, they bunged them an interest-free loan of Â£2000, which they are paying back at around Â£167/month, I believe

Royal Mail wants to pay us by the month because it suits them. Not ANY of US, THEM. For just that reason alone, I oppose it.

Paying monthly in arrears will give RM profits an apparent boost.

Lots more bonus money for management.

Management in our office consistently f**k up informing wages dept the amount of overtime worked. The worst case scenario i had, it took 4 weeks for my overtime to be sent through because line manager kept saying he'd forgotten to put it through.

Convert that into monthly pay. I could be waiting 4 months to be payed for the hours i've worked???
