OHassist, are they atos?, what can they assess via the phone

I have been sick since a week yesterday (monday) and was told by my dom that atos had tried to contact me last weds and i alledgedly didnt answer my phone, well they never rang it!
He requested for them to contact me this week, and i have received a letter stating i will get a phonecall and should be available to take the call, well this is from OHAssist and says nothing about atos,

my problem is my knee has gave up again, i have been on limited light duties in the callers office for near enough 9 months but the last 3 months i have been having to do loops where people have cut off or absorbtion cannot be done, several times i told them i was in pain and only once did they relieve me of delivering, then they decided that a duty that would be suitable for me would be to come in tie up a firms delivery and do a firms delivery getting in and out of the van for 200 plus calls, this has totally put me in pain (arthritis) and thus i had to go sick, as driving, walking for more than a short time brings on an evil nagging pain. Doing the 7 hr callers duty was already giving me pain but was bearable to a point, when they changed this for delivering for 2 hours booking in all parcels and serving customers for another 3.5 hrs and having my 30 minute break an hour before my end of duty if i could take it at all, the 5.5 hrs walking took its toll.

I have a gp's appointment in the same timeframe that the call is supposed to take place, what can an assesment over the phone actually assess?, i cannot walk far, i cannot drive far, my gp gave me strong co codamol which makes me dizzy and unsafe to drive and then puts me to sleep within a few hours.

Did you give your dom permission for atos to call you?

well he didnt ask, he told me they would contact me, but i am quite happy for them to somehow asses me over the phone, for the same problem i had atos physio last year and their said further treatment would be needed, but the dom or atos decided to ignore it and ive had nhs physio which totally contradicts what atos's contracted company said would help.

I have just had a call from OHAssist, they asked a few questions, and listened to what I had to say, my doc said if I was felt able to return to work on Monday I could, OHAssist thought I would need some more time off, I told them my injury is slowly getting better so might be ok for Monday so they have insisted im on indoor duties for a couple of weeks.

They are there to help, nothing to worry about.


p.s can't believe I have said I should be ok to go back when they were saying otherwise.

That sounds like good news PB

It seems that this new regime have a different approach from the Old ATOS, perhaps they've learnt that by Bullying Posties (and others) back to work too soon they simply burn them out and end up with them leaving the job, one way or another?

Maybe RM are concerned at the amount of money IHR is costing them?
