When Royal Mail supply uniforms why do some Posties prefer to walk around looking like tramps? Some seem to think it's clever to wear outdated uniforms. No wonder the public have such a low opinion of us. The other day my said that she saw a postman who looked like a tramp! When she told me where, I knew who it was. Nuff said!!

Its always been the same.

Its harder now as you have to order your own uniform. Some just dont bother though.

Perhaps some prefer the colour of the outdated uniforms. New one makes you look like you work in a fast food restaurant!

because the outdated uniform is more comfortable and suitable and in old days they did a proper thermal now they do a fleece .................!

i preferd the old uniform it seemed less flimsy i only wore it for about a month, but it was more water proof. i ripped two pairs of trousers fairly soon after getting them good job i'm handy with needle and thread. ijust wear red shirt and trousers now with hivis vest or hivis jacket(which has a ripped pocket).
its not our fault we look like tramps if they give us uniforms that are made of cheap material.

I've gotta agree, you see quite a few posties with worn out trousers, especially the pockets, and mainly the back pocket too as that can get so worn out and threadbare, as can the edges of the other pockets too, and the velcro tabs can get lost fairly quickly. The belt is a waist of time (pardon the bad pun) as it does sod all to aid holding up your trousers, they constantly lower themselves an inch or so every time so the bottoms so trouser bottoms get scuffed as well. The fleece is worthless in the summer as it's not really worth wearing, you get too hot in it and it's really baggy and has no shape at all. Talking of shapeless. The blue shirts with the "flying collars" how I wish they were button down like the old shirts were.

I'd love to wear mine, only it was nicked from my frame a few years ago, and I got left with an XL sized one, and mine was a medium sized Harrington!

Me: Hello can I order some new trainers please?

Uniforms: You had some 3 months ago and 3 months before that and 3 months before that - you cannot have any more

Me: Yes well that is because they have worn out

Uniforms: They should last longer than that

Me: Well they haven't - I walk 9 miles a day you know

Uniforms: Well then what you need to do is get your manager to send us the trainers and we will examine them and decide if you need more

Me: He's looked at them I do

Uniforms: Well we still need to see them

Me: What do I wear in the meantime

Uniforms: Work issued trainers

Me: Yes I need some more

Uniforms: Well you can order them from me

Me: Great can I have a pair

Uniforms: No you have exceeded the amount you can have
