I might have had time to pen cancel stamps in the past but I don't now.

Still millions on ebay , used stamps , god knows how they get them off - good luck to them if they can, I always find time for a quick squiggle on them. (2 seconds).

Market research. A randomly selected group were questioned, and the results extrapolated.

1900 cancelled stamps because they thought they had to, and worryingly, over 4000 cancelled stamps but had no idea why they did it.

Around 142,000 don't cancel stamps, including myself. I simply never look. It just doesn't register with me if a letter has a stamp on it, never mind if it has been cancelled.

I cancel stamps on my delivery. There now appears to be a lot of letters passing through our office with reused stamps on then and a lot of these go to a prison nearby. These are also either glued on or stuck down with something akin to tippex or suchlike as well as some of them being sellotaped on and the people who send these use any manner of method to make them stick to the envelope. Some stamps have been either peeled off from old envelopes, as you can see the remains of it on the back of the stamp or just cut out from the previously used envelope, sadly for these people they unfortunately have a tendency to "fall off" when being sorted and end up being surcharged anyway as the stamps are reused.
And then there's issue of envelopes that are pre-stamped.. ie have the TNT/UKMail, or whoever else has their ident on them. We're starting to see a lot of these being reused. They look like they've been carefully opened up allowing them to reuse the envelopes. The problem with these is that they don't have a date on them so you've no way of telling when they were actually sent. If they look dodgy I cancel them by writing the date across the TNT/UKMail ident or who ever else has their "mark" there.

I did that lounge lizard. I put them in the yellow pouch and after about a week of doing this they put a scribbled note in saying stop sending them! Huh!!

Stamps, what are those? Most mail is DSA or franked.

OK. Where, or who, do I get one of these yellow pouches from and what do I add, if needed, in to the pouch, apart from all of the letters with the reused stamps on?

Been working a link last few weeks. I'd say at least half of my delivery colleagues are currently cancelling stamps on letters, up from none.
Same is not true for small packets (large letter stamps), maybe less than a quarter bother - at least in the depot.

They all need to be cancelled really on the late shifts at every MC in the country
