Unauthorised absence ?

I've just been given the minutes from a meeting I had with my office manager about taking a Tuesday off cause my day off fell on a bank holiday Monday as that's what I was told to do by the union bloke and the manager in charge at the time , he is asking me to sign the papers and then a decision will be made, do I have to sign them and who makes the decision ? Oh and the manager who was is charge is denying that he said for me to take the day off

See your Union Rep asap or if they're unavailable go to the next one in the chain.. ie the area rep.

Why your Union Rep told you to take a Tuesday off is beyond me as Bank Holidays are given back by RM as a day in lieu if it is the same day as your day off.
I've never come across that one before.
Did you have any witnesses when your Union Rep said this or when your Manager authorised your "day off" after the Bank Holiday?

Some offices do work this system, our mail centre used it, if your day off was a Monday and it was a bank holiday, they would get the Tuesday off instead, but we just got a days A/L added.

On the week prior to the Monday bank holiday week did you check your duty rota for that week and it would have shown if you were scheduled to work on the Tuesday or not.
