workplace coach money

person has been workplace coach for over 3 years
has decided to do backshfit duty in do with less hours
has now been told they will be losing their wpc money
reason they are not doing enough
is this right can they just take away wpc money is it not protected

The said person/wpc probably does what the wpc coaches do at my office which is F.,K aLL and still get their 30 quid a week. Tell the said person to grow a pair, stop drawing shi..y pictures on walls. and ask the dimwit in charge.

To my mind were all workplace coaches now with the amount of new starts comin in week after week . So wheres our 30 quid a week lol

If he is not doing any WPC work then he is not entitled to the pay (so its not protected) as per 9.4. But if he is doing some WPC work then 9.1 applies.

9. Allowance

In recognition of the skills, flexibility and commitment that Coaches will be expected
to demonstrate and maintain, an allowance will be paid.

9.1 On appointment each Coach will receive a weekly pensionable assigned
allowance of £30, regardless of the level of coaching activity that they are
required to provide.

9.2 The allowance will be increased in line with future Royal Mail pay settlements
from April 2007.

9.3 Where an employee decides they do not wish to continue in their coaching
role they should inform the manager immediately so that an appropriate
replacement can be found. They will however be required to continue until the
replacement has been selected and fully trained.

9.4 On return to normal duties the Coaching allowance will cease.

point is reduced hours should not stop wpc commitment from said person doing it regardless of wpc abilities
whats happening is mgmt taking ex action to take away wpc status and money from person they no longer wish to perform wpc duties(as they have their favs to stand in)
even though they installed person to position in first place

If they are now doing a backshift, how are they going to be available to do any of the WPC duties?

The said person must be a very good friend of yours, you seem really concerned. Tell the said person to buy some new colouring pens, put them in his shirt pocket and make regular eye contact with the DIM in charge. Maybe he could draw a different picture[ a stool, a yellow line, a postbag, a foot step] every day and take it in work. The guys will be thrilled with his drawings and persuade the loving manager to keep paying his money. I can only hope the said wpc keeps his role. Please keep us all informed. Please let the said postman know that I am praying for him.

Part time WPCs get proportional pay of the £30 - if they dropped to 30 hours they'd get 30/39ths of the £30
