Official safe place

I have never come across an official safe place. Any one have them?
An idea would be for customers to print/ fill out a form stating it's ok to leave in safe place and then filed on each walk. I presume at the moment customers have to ring up and jump through hoops?
Same logic could be applied for d2d opt out.

One of my punters official safe place is in their blue recycling bin! Go figure!

The only thing that can be left in a Safeplace is a Tracked item that has the details already on it otherwise you have to P739 it and return it to the office.

P739 has an option stating that it has been left in official safe place?
Is there no such thing then? There should be, the customer can sign something stating it's their safe place and take all responsibility.

Not sure how that would hold up since the customer is the sender, there would have to be some agreement on their part I would imagine. That's how the Tracked Safe Place system works, the recipient informs the sender of their prefered safe place and both parties have an implied agreement that passes responsibility to the recipient and negates the need for the sender to request compensation from Royal Mail if Safe Place has been used properly and the item goes missing.

Don't safe place anything. Two suspensions in our office recently for items missing from arranged safe place. Customers will drop you in it and your job is at risk.These are new times and old practices should be abandoned.

Does royalmail keep track of the safeplace associated with a tracked item? In case it did go missing, you can prove you were following instructions to leave it?

If a tracked says safe place - blue bin - printed on it by the sender, we'd look silly slipping it - we look silly enough don't we?

One of my customers has a Hippo Box, a large metal cabinet fixed to their wall outside the house, Pop the parcel in and push it closed to lock it and a P739 through the door, fantastic unless a courier has got to it first. It is the only place I leave anything.

I was told from one of the directors of royal mail that OPG should not bring parcels back and should leave either with a neighbour or in a safe place , discretion of the OPG.

There are only 3 options,1 with the customer,2 P739 card ,3 With who ever as stated on My written instructions which I shall then keep as proof.

Remember if you Safeplace it you're supposed to mark it as such on the PDA.
