Delivering special to shared residence?

We're not allowed to deliver specials to neighbours, but in a shared residence house converted into flats where the delivery point is the front door, what's the rules say then?

can you walk around inside the building ?or is just like an open door with bedrooms ? students ? id leave a docket at least the item is safe .

How do you know the person who comes to the door is who they claim?

It's a farce when at the callers office I've heard about them turning away a lady trying to pick up a regular packet for her husband because she didn't have his ID.

I'm talking about large houses that have been converted into 4 or more private rooms, they have individual buzzers but all share a letterbox at the front door.

So although the address might be flat 1, 36 Acacia Avenue, if the delivery point is 36 Acacia Avenue, then anyone who answers that door can sign for it.
If however you don't feel comfortable with that then 739 it.

If 34 Acacia Avenue was an unconverted townhouse and you had a Special Delivery, would it concern you if the gardener or the nanny or even if the bloke who had come round to service the boiler signed for it?

If you know of a residence that has this problem, surely it's best to inform your DOM or manager of the problem and let them make a decision?
Doing this is putting the problem at their "door" at it were.

Got quite a few of these of my round, one point-of-entry/letterbox, and no buzzers for separate flats

Anyone who answers the door gets it. Unless they start asking us for Id, then surely you're safe?

If the tenant is happy to share one delivery point then whoever answers the door can sign for it.....I reckon

Best advice so far is ask your manager.

I would always take the name of the person signing for it, not the name on SD. Then if any problems you are covered.
