Got told today that ALL specials on a Saturday have to be delivered by 1pm regardless of it being a Saturday guaranteed or not. Doesn't seem fair to the customer whose paid the extra £4+ for a SG only for someone to pay less but receive the same service. IS this a nationwide thing now?

But if someone posted it late, after the last collection, on Thursday then it would NOT be shown as 'Saturday Guarantee' but would need delivering by 1pm on Saturday.

I would have thought not as the accepting post office would have advised them that the last collection had happened and that delivery would be due Monday.

It always makes me laugh when you have a Saturday guaranteed and there not in !!! What a waste of money as they cant collect it until Monday

We've been told this as well. All the specials on Saturday HAVE to be treated as 'SG'
I questioned this and said this is wrong as the Saturday guarentee is a separate add on.
Apparently all the DOM's were told on a conference call to start this in every office. Our union rep has emailed Moya and is waiting for a reply.

Imagine if the public found out they have been CONNED into buying an add on when it isn't needed.........just imagine the compensation payouts.

As a customer I'm baffled as to why I can't have a special delivered on a Monday when I'm in. I'll place my order on a Friday and carefully select Special Delivery (NOT SG) so it will be delivered on the Monday, only to get home on Saturday to find a damned P739 posted. This means a 20-odd mile round trip on the Monday to pick up the bloody thing.

They should start doing a 'next day guaranteed' special. Not everyone needs it before 13:00, just guaranteed for that day.

Royal Mail's service is better than 'next day guaranteed'. If anything, we should be looking at moving specials to a 12 noon guarantee.
Our DO delvers all specials we get in on Saturdays, have done for years and many customers know this. They they don't need to pay VAT, etc. for SG

Saturday is not a normal working day and the SD is NOT guaranteed unless the guarantee has been paid for. Saturday SDs should be attempted delivery if possible but aren't necessarily put out for delivery as a matter of course. That is why we have the provision of Saturday Holdover. What is a bit disingenuous is the SG payment for a business which does not open on Saturday - you still have to visit of course but it then becomes a holdover.

There should be a list in each DO that has information from the receiving address that Saturday delivery is NOT required due to closure - I very much doubt that a comprehensive list is actually held.

No, because the whole purpose of Special Delivery was to get it in good time to deal with it and reply the same day.
'next day guaranteed' is far inferior and merits a significantly lower price.

And that's why we have Tracked and Recorded. IMO tracked items should be opened to the general public with the scheduled services that were once quoted put into place. We're buggering about with loads of services that could be tailored into one.

I think within a couple of years Recorded will get axed and replaced with the Tracked signature required service and the whole of Tracked opened to the general public. They'd need to get way better guns though if they did that for MCs.
