A month ago i changed my contract hours from 35 to 31.5 ( through no fault as i wasn't allowed to pick a 39 at the last re-pick, and there were no 35 hour duties after the re-pick), anyway how many days off a year (before poal) would a 39,35 31.5 hour contract have?? it's confusing as my new holiday sheet still says i've booked 5 days off a week for my annual leave, even though i'll only be off 4. any help please i'd be grateful.......it's not that i mistrust management...........erm hang on.....

Re: Annual Leave / Contract hours.
so many issues here
It seems as if they have not altered the leave plan to account for you now working 4 days rather than 5
and why the hell have you gone down to 31.5???
If there were no duties why were there none - did they build a 35 hour duty into the repick??
We have people still on odd contracts from many moons ago and even if the duty that they could pick on the repick was less than their hours - they kept their hours
Did you get a buy down?

Re: Annual Leave / Contract hours.
No buy down no nothing.....there were no 35 hour contracts after the revision...... totally was NOT allowed to pick a 39 hour duty even though i'm half way in the pecking order after 15 years loyal service. i just need some info as i'm not getting anything from anyone, the guys on here seem to ken what they're talking about.......i feel i'm being shafted.

Re: Annual Leave / Contract hours.
Are you in the Union?
What did your Rep say/do?
You don't have to reduce your hours if don't want to and you don't have to increase your hours if you don't want to.They have to accommodate you, this goes against all agreements-you have been conned into accepting less hours. Now you have an issue with your annual leave which shouldn't have happened. See your Rep and manager and tell them to get it sorted.

Re: Annual Leave / Contract hours.
That was a silly move on your part in reducing your contracted hours and you should have never consented to this.Jon Chaplarski wrote:Hi all,

Your employer is obliged to honour your contract immaterial if there were no duties available to cover your total hors. They could have quite easily made adjustments for other work for the discrepancy of 3.5 hours.
If you have not already received a refreshed contract then would fight to keep your existing hours.

Re: Annual Leave / Contract hours.
that is kinda what I was trying to say
the people who had contracts who exceeded their only pick on our repick got to keep their contracted hours
What on earth prompted you to drop yours?

in regards to your number of days off, it doesnt matter how many hours your are contracted to work, its about the number of days you work each week that rules your time off:
1 day worked per week - Annual entitlement 6 Days including bank holidays but excluding any extra holidays due to length of service or poal
2 day worked per week - Annual entitlement 12 Days including bank holidays but excluding any extra holidays due to length of service or poal
3 day worked per week - Annual entitlement 18.5 Days including bank holidays but excluding any extra holidays due to length of service or poal
4 day worked per week - Annual entitlement 26 Days including bank holidays but excluding any extra holidays due to length of service or poal

Re: Annual Leave / Contract hours.
any 1 working less than 4 days a week will be entitled to a pro-rata amount of bank holidays compared to a 5day week, so some one working a 1 day week will get 1/5 of 8 bank holidays or 1.6days . adding on their 4 and a half weeks would equal 6.1 days annual leave entitlement. this would then need to be rounded up to the nearest half day otherwise you are not being given your full entitlement. so for a 1 day attendance the entitlement should be 6.5 days
similarly a 2day week equals 2/5 of 8bank holidays or 3.2 days , adding on the four and half weeks basic entitlement (9days) equals 12.2 days so again needs to be rounded up to 12.5 days
therefore
1 day worked per week - Annual entitlement 6.5 Days including bank holidays but excluding any extra holidays due to length of service or poal
2 day worked per week - Annual entitlement 12.5 Days including bank holidays but excluding any extra holidays due to length of service or poal
imo

Leave entitlements will be rounded up to the nearest half day and will then be converted into hours. When leave is taken, it will be reduced by hours and minutes with no rounding, except by the conversion to decimals. This is the only change to annual leave. Leave entitlements and the principles of how this is allocated will not be changing whatsoever.

Your info is not quite correct, if you look at the bank holiday guide you will find you need to round down some of those figures, not up

that is only in regards to ensuring that the legal minimum statutory time off is given, royal mail give us more that the statutory minimum of annual leave thus they can round down
