how do you stop people starting early?

Had a year of no absorption due to p and l being bought in but it looks likely to return due partly to these people coming in an hour early! Will they never learn? Surely there is health and safety issues here? Any advice?

Simple really, make the job easier to achieve the finish time on the contracts.

Why don't you just get on with what you are doing and leave them to it. If you can't fit absorption in to your working time leave it behind or bring it back. It's not rocket science is it?!

You won't. Some people are really blinkered when it comes to their frames and work times.

You need to get management to pull their finger out and stop people coming in early.. in breach of insurance policies and H&S etc.. The trouble is they won't do it as it helps them get the office clear and if people are stupid enough to come in and work for nothing just so they can get out "on time, when they clearly aren't doing so because they've come in early well more fool them. Working for nothing and still running around like headless chickens.

Come in at your correct start time and WORK TO YOUR CONTRACT. Don't do anything more than the required work. If you have to cut off then do so, and when doing so make sure you have a witness with you when you inform management of your intentions. Don't go over your hours and bring it back. The more people that do this the sooner the better as it will force management to reassess deliveries and the delivery spans. Then you may start to see a difference in the office. But don't hold your breath.

Light tues means shorter duty hours and lapsing so finishing early never happens in my part of the world.

does it matter what time they start?
be it 1hr 2 hrs or to time,
i can walk in at 7-50 on a saturday, grab my coffee & quite a few who are same hours as me are loaded up ready for off, 9/10 of the rest have the bulk of their walks prepped!
when told we're lapsing i always say "not me, i didn't get treat today" and nothing usually said unless its very light,
if some others want to work 15/20 mins longer for nothing to get home quicker so be it,
my beef was they stopped just myself from doing it on a match day when they still let others finish early?
season over now so those managers can now take my lapsed bit out themselves over the summer because they're too scared to tell the runners to take it when back 2 hours early.

What does it matter, just work properly and if you haven't got time to lapse it doesn't matter what they ask you to do.
