RE : FUTURE PROVISION OF LEGAL SERVICES (UNIONLINE) – CONTACT DETAILS

Further to LTB 320/2014 dated 14th May 2014.

I am pleased to advise that our Trade Union Law firm, in partnership with the GMB Union (known as Unionline) will be available from Monday 2nd June 2014.

In order to assist our members in registering a claim for personal injuries, they will now be able to avail themselves of the following new options, which will replace the current CWU Helpline.

Contact your local Branch Official to obtain an LS3 form in the usual way

Please note that members can still obtain an LS3 form via the Branch in the normal way and send to CWU Legal Services. We still require the involvement and expertise of local officials in assisting CWU Headquarters in processing claims. Our principle objective is to capture the claim as quickly as possible and once this has been achieved the normal claims process will continue via our Panel Solicitors. However, some claims will be fully processed by Unionline Solicitors.

The CWU will be distributing a new membership card which will contain details of Unionline. This will be included in the June/July issue of the Voice.

NB:

The freephone number for Unionline on 0300 300 0303 can also be used to obtain legal advice on other non work related issues. Additionally, members will also be able to get advice on employment law procedures. This is a new service. However, this will not include assessing the merits of any claim.

When using these new services, members will be required to provide their membership number.

These changes do not affect those Branches in the Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and IOM. Their existing arrangements will continue.
