Time off

My Mrs recently bought a European city break for me and only told me 10 days before we were due to leave.

I told my manager by text as soon as I found out stating the dates etc and saying I would need the time off. He responded by saying sounds great don't worry I will sort the time off.
Anyway the Saturday before I was due to go off he said I couldn't now go as I was scheduled to come in??! I said I cant be in I fly off in the morning?
I didn't come in on Mon-Tues and now have a letter to attend interview for fact finding on why I didn't come in?

Where do I stand with this please?

If you've got the text of him saying you can have it off then you're laughing. If not then it's your word against his. Make sure union rep is present, do not go to that meeting alone.

The general notice period for taking leave is at least twice as long as the amount of leave a worker wants to take (eg 2 days’ notice for 1 day’s leave), unless the contract says something different.

An employer can refuse a leave request but they must give as much notice as the amount of leave requested, eg 2 weeks’ notice if the leave requested was 2 weeks.

You are on a 6 month temporary contract so unaware as to how far you are in on your 6 month contract would have thought that being granted annual leave for 10 days and knowing RM seems to be unusual to say the least and your DOM agreeing to sort this leave out for you.
As indicated in other answers if you have no evidence of your DOM making this statement then you are going to be left high and dry.
have you received any notification from the duty book room on your annual leave allocation.
You had better inform your union rep of this situation and request that him/her accompany you to the fact-finding meeting if its the same DOM that originally agreed that is taking the meeting.
I am expecting your DOM if questioned that he cannot remember saying this to you at the time.
