Workig in the den, locking up etc, entitled to a payment?

The last 2 weeks and this week, i have been made to do the locker room job of working afternoons and locking the office up, doing van checks after collections, looking after returned specials etc and trying to solve problems when collections are too heavy for the drivers. I have had the briefest of training to do this btw.

I was just wondering if i am entitled to any kind of payment for this, as to be honest its quite a bit of responsibility, doing this alone after everyone else has gone home and the hours are nto exactly socialable finishing half 7 to 8 all week.
The usual workers say im entitled to a weekly payment of 6-7 quid and even tho its not a lot, the guy who does our hours/timesheets says that im not entitled to anything and that all workers are the same grade these days so their is no payment.

Whats the truth on the matter?

Thats what the others in the locker have said to me, but the guy who does the wages says all posties are the same now, their are no grades and no supplements for being a key holder, locking up, controlling afternoon collections etc, he says its just a role the same as my usual as a postman, ive done this for 2 weeks and am doing it this week, i am on 35 hrs, and the usual guy is now back off holiday this week but being put on mornings as they have recently changed the hours in the locker room due to at least 1 of them being paid off to leave. The usual guy is still on 39 hrs but waiting to drop to 35, thus me doing his role. I work with a new starter (in the den) and its nigh on impossible to take my breaks and leave him their alone as their would be queues massively out the door, the dom also takes me or the other guy out to do some loops he havent got covered causing more back log and pressure when were both not experienced in our jobs.

Ask this guy if he gets any extra for 'doing the wages'.

All our locker staff that more responsability than others, like you are receive leadership allowance, same as our lead CSS OPG, gets leadership allowance. Just remine the wages guy about Work Place Coaches, they get paid extra but still a OPG.

I brought it up again yesterday, and he said that he will work out what is owed to me at the end of the week, sharp change of mind for some reason.

I've been a cage/den reserve on my own as its a 1 man job at my office (cover the phg's holidays 6 weeks a year and i do every saturday as that is the phg's day off) and i haven't had leadership allowance since around 2009/2010.

if this is the case that i should've been paid this allowance please advise... i will take this issue up tomorrow if so.

As far as i know, if you are a regular key holder - responsible for locking up, then you are entitled to a leadership bonus.

But if your working in the RLE or covering the RLE (without locking the office up and holding the keys etc), then there is no bonus.

can't understand why your PHG(a position no longer existing) gets every Saturday off?
In our office the delivery staff work to a 1 in 6 rota - 1 long weekend off in every 6 weeks worked.
The indoor staff used to work a 1 in 4, not taking thurs or Fri off, to ensure cover on heavy days. This was taken away from us under our DOM's bright vision of fairness.
Lost a Level 3 Grievance over that as well.


If this is incorrect i would be interested to know why and proof of this as well please as i've been in the RLE for over 3 years now without a bonus payment of any type.
