Three point turns

What's the guidance on doing this. It's quicker to 3 point turn rather than go to busy junction. However it can inconvenience other road users.

If the road is wide enough to allow you to position the van at right angle (90 degrees) to road (meaning you can see clearly out of side windows) then 3-point turn is safe.

The road I was on was fairly busy but the junction was even busier, I waited for clearing before starting my maneuver but of course somebody comes speeding down the road as I'm halfway into it (only takes me 10 seconds or thereabouts) and beeps horn. It's easy to feel like a bit of a dick when the van is blocking the entire road.

A 3 point turn - or a change of direction using forward and reverse gears - is a legal and valid road maneuver as long as its not done on a road that has restrictions that prevent it (one way, no u turns etc).
