Refusing to accept and pay O/T claim

Having problems with an uber manager that has been dropped into our office for a few months.

I put in my O/T sheet for last week ending 11/05/14. Part of my O/T claim included time for running over on my duty. 30mins each day for three days. I am currently on a parcel delivery duty which includes indoor duties for 40mins.

Apparently he blew a gasket over it and I asked him if there was a problem. I was told that I had no excuse for running over and that it was not possible to go past my allocated time for the duty, unless I was doing something wrong! I also got a lot of other flim-flam and bull-s**t.

I offered a simple solution which was for him to accompany me on my duty. This did not go down well with him and he made his excuses to refuse that offer.

I'm sure this goes on in the majority of delivery offices every day but where do I stand and what would be my best course of action.

Tell your line manager before you go out that you don't think you can complete in time. Await their instruction. Then finish on time. Go home. If they have a problem with that they have to prove that you are not up to recommended work capability. Very long and laborious task, most d I m s won't bother. Because they don't like it when the results of testing don't go their way.

Ask him politely that if he is saying you are not doing your job correctly, to put in writing what it is that you are doing incorrectly, and ask for a meeting with him and your union rep for a formal meeting to discuss appropriate training to rectify the problems that he foresees. If you are refused this reasonable request, again ask him politely to ensure that the time you have given to Royal Mail in excess of your duty time is paid in the next available pay packet. Should he fail to action this reasonable request, you will action a claim against him personally in the Small Claims Court. For the future, make sure that you have his consent to work beyond your contracted hours before you leave the depot on a daily basis. If he refuses such a reasonable request then you ask him how he would like to deal with your overrunning delivery/collections.

Tell him he either pays you or pays someone else to cover part of your duty that you can't complete, same outcome for his budget

I was thinking that as well , they went about 8 years ago didn't they

We went back to using O/T sheets because linos couldn`t be trusted. O/T claims go straight to booking room - bypassing linos .
