Hassle from dog

Might sound silly but I was wondering if this was worth mentioning to my dom.

There's a dog on my round ,keeps hassling me. Hasn't bitten me, yet, but most times I get out the van ,he comes running out onto the lane, barking at me. I have to walk into their property ,put mail through door then walk to the house opposite where he follows me,still barking at me. Yes ,he comes into the house opposite.The people that live there aren't too happy about the dog doing this and they don't have gate or fencing.His owner hardly comes out to control him. When she is about she will tell him to shut up which does nothing.

The dogs owner has a gate ,which might as well not be there. Dog can and does squeeze under it.
Its the constant barking at me , right in your face , why should I get hassle like this? It actually does give me headache.

So dog hasn't bitten me but what would be done do you think?

Report it to your DOM, and he'll probably send out one of those warning letters, and if that doesn't solve the problem tell him again, and their mail will get suspended.

The dog doesn't actually need to bite you for it to be classed as an 'attack', I had an aggressive mutt on my walk that kept barking at me, and their owner got the letter treatment. Seemed to do the trick.

I had a dog like this yesterday, walked in to a cul de sac and a medium sized mutt comes charging towards me barking its head off. Wasn't much could do as had trolley with me, so I just stood my ground til it settled.

Totally agree with Terry here. The dog should be reported as a hazard and placed on the office WRAP. This should be recorded as a near miss and generate a letter to the owners.

If the dog is following you to the other property you may consider suspending that delivery as well. I would as you just do not want to be bitten.

This is what to do... Firstly inform your manager ... do not leave your vehicle if dog is out. write on all of owners mail DOG RISK = NO DELIVERY.
If you get chance to speak to the dog owner..explain they wont be getting their mail..politely but firmly. Some dog owners are so thick its untrue.. good luck

Refuse to deliver the mail until she keeps her dog under control.

And a little known part of the existing legislation says that a dog doesn't have to bite a person in order to be regarded as dangerously out of control. If a person feels that the dog may injure them, the law still applies.

Couple this with the fact that the new changes now extend to incidents involving dogs on private property, it means that anyone who feels threatened by your dog when they come into your garden or to your door, could potentially put you at risk of prosecution under the new act.

If in doubt don't get out drive off endorse and keep doing it till the dog is locked up even nice dog's can have a bad day and take it out on you.

'We're only paid to deliver. We're not paid to be harassed, by people or animals'

We're not allowed to enter premises where there's a dog loose anyways.

Any dog out in the the street (apart from ones I know are soft) I'll just walk away and miss out as much mail as need be. Don't ever deliver whilst being hassled by a dog, it's against RM policy for a start!

put a dog at large sticker on mail these should be available from your dom .

tazar the motherfudger or pepper spray the bas..... it'll soon back off next time the van pulls up.
