Hi everyone , just trying to get a general outlook about this.
Is it just our office or are others the same as ours, been refused lieu days and holidays. Even to get 1 week never minds 2 in the summer is a joke..
They say they are sorting lieu days out and yes they are...They refuse everyone :(
So does this happen in other offices ?

All holidays for the year April 2014 - March 2015 were allocated during November 2013 at our office... all bar the odd days if you had no definite dates... lieu days for Bank Holiday credits are done on an ad-hoc basis as they occur...

More absorption coming which should free up more holiday dates "To provide additional annual leave opportunities over the summer period, including opportunities to ‘burn off’ any outstanding or carried over leave."
I have 10 lieu days outstanding, accrued from being given bank holidays as my day off. In the first week in January of this year I asked for one on the 12th of July and got refused, "We are not allowed to authorise any unscheduled days off for the foreseeable future". I asked when am I supposed to take them then and he just said "Don't worry you wont lose them they stay with you for as long as it takes". Absolute joke!
If you're not happy you need to put in a grievance or if it affects the unit as a whole rep needs to put in a disagreement to try and solve the issue...

sounds like our place, looks like its the same across the board then
You would think by now like alot of company's they can go on-line and see what days are available and book on line..
Ok they need to be authorised but aleast we can see whats gong on and not fill a form in and hope for the best

Same at our place,it's crazy.
Its the same in my office, the system for leiu days needs challenged in a legal way to force the issue.
Until that happens they will never sort it, I know of one person who has 28 days in leiu.
To all those who have outstanding leave you are only allowed to carry five days over its in agreement somwhere watch the f***ers don't take them off you and also it is a legal requirement that they allow you to take all your allocated holidays.The union need to challenge this as it takes the loss.

Well if they take mine of me , I will sue them privately in a civil court .
I think after taking in my long weekend at Good Friday I have 7 leiu days ,they either can offer to pay me our they can start by saying right you can have such an such a week off at reduce your leave.
They don't tend to say how many lieu days you have mmmm nut i have put quite a few in and been refused them all and our holiday system was rubbish this year if i'm honest, people with a week in may and then nothing free until november ???How does that work ? It took them untill Feb to have it something like completed..
Absolute joke. Missed out on birthdays, weddings, considering how big our company is its pants , no one else in different company's seems to have the same trouble getting days off or holidays..Gets annoying when you can't plan anything as you can't say if you going to get that day off or not, you have to fill the calender in for the year to see if it falls on your day off..

Blame whoever came up with the idea that people can buy leave to take you up to six weeks.
Nearly everyone in my office have the full six weeks, therefore all slots are full, leaving no where to take odd days that are owed.
this is a national problem and should be taken up at national level
