Re: start times
Any change to your working starting and finishing times can be +/- 30 minutes based on a flexibility agreement but is purely VOLUNTARY and your refusal to comply the DOM cannot force a +/- 15 minutes without your consent. \inform your CWU rep on the DOM intention.martinapsid wrote:hi all can anyone help me dom wants us to move forward 1/2 hour we have said no now he says he can move us forward 15 minutes with out our agreement is this true?

Re: start times
that 30 minute flex is for unforseen circumstances not for the dom wanting to move start times forward on a permanent basis, if he even wants to move them forward by a minute then get the rep to lodge a disagreement and insist on the status quo whilst the disagreement goes through the IR frameworkrehabron wrote:Any change to your working starting and finishing times can be +/- 30 minutes based on a flexibility agreement but is purely VOLUNTARY and your refusal to comply the DOM cannot force a +/- 15 minutes without your consent. \inform your CWU rep on the DOM intention.martinapsid wrote:hi all can anyone help me dom wants us to move forward 1/2 hour we have said no now he says he can move us forward 15 minutes with out our agreement is this true?

Re: start times
This is one of the most stupid aspects of the modern Royal Mail.martinapsid wrote:hi all can anyone help me dom wants us to move forward 1/2 hour we have said no now he says he can move us forward 15 minutes with out our agreement is this true?
Later starts means later deliveries, means less likelihood of actually catching somebody at home, unless deliveries start at 5.00pm when people are getting back home from work, shopping, socialising, etc, etc, etc.
And, even after a dozen or more years of treating both public, and staff, with utter contempt, the public still has this perception that later deliveries actually are a result of inefficiency, whilst on the very rare occasions that I actually deliver anything before 10.00am, more than one person has expressed the sincere hope that this was going to become the norm.
Royal Mail may save a few bob delivering people's mail late in the day, well, attempting to deliver people's mail late in the day anyway, but I cannot for the life of me see that it's in any way, shape , or form, a mark of an efficient company.

what time does your office take their breaks ?dvbuk55 wrote:arthur was right wrote:5am start 1pm finish Mon - Fri 12 noon finish Sat. its as simple and easily achievable. Its what I think the vast majority of staff would like and what customers would like....
Job and finish too,yes those days are long gone, never to return. We're still on IPS sometimes at 0930, the last lift arriving at 0700 - we used to be out delivering at 0645 - some OPGs are still in at 1030/45, so first letter not in until 1045/1100.

20 minutes at some point before leaving and 20 minutes at the end. For those who bother that isbringon4dayweeks wrote:what time does your office take their breaks ?dvbuk55 wrote:arthur was right wrote:5am start 1pm finish Mon - Fri 12 noon finish Sat. its as simple and easily achievable. RM do like to tie 2 hands behind your back ,then expect you to complete in the normal way!DirtyHarry wrote:This is one of the most stupid aspects of the modern Royal Mail.martinapsid wrote:hi all can anyone help me dom wants us to move forward 1/2 hour we have said no now he says he can move us forward 15 minutes with out our agreement is this true?

1 side of the business is increasing timed deliveries and god help you if you are late ,all the info now on PDA
2 The other side of the business wants you to start late ,fine ,but with a lot larger rounds covering larger areas than ever, many times it is impossible to do specials as you are going, so 1 partner needs to break off and go and do the specials. All time consuming ,which can lead to cut offs or going over ,no joined up thinking from RM management across the board.

Re: start times
I go in do my hours, then go home.
I do only what is physically possible in the time alloted.
If the workload is simply way over the top, then that is strictly a problem for management to solve, not my problem whatsoever.

Re: start times
It's all about when your mail arrives in your office these days. No point starting at five when your second wave of mail doesn't arrive till gone seven then the missorts at nine.. You'll just be hanging about .arthur was right wrote:5am start 1pm finish Mon - Fri 12 noon finish Sat. its as simple and easily achievable. Re: start times
I think you'll find that under The Way Forward agreement your duty time can be changed by up to 29 mins without your consent or recourse to the union, things may have changed since this was agreed but certainly in my mc it still holds the field
