Applying for an advertised duty.

There is a duty available at our office which is part time and fits my part time hours. Iam a reserve postie.There are two others who I know of and have spoken to who are going to apply,both have been at the Royal Mail for over 8 years and me being there only a year.
Will there be any point in applying for it knowing they are going to apply as ive heard it all boils down to seniority?

If the rest of the office then learnt you skipped seniority to get the position I doubt you'd be very popular if it would even happen.

He would still have to be the most senior to of applied to get the position so will have skipped nothing. Go for it you, never know.

My manager reckons not a lot may apply for it as its a drop in hours and most of the seniority are on full time and the cover duty holders work 2 days less for only 5hrs less. Its a long shot but i may as well go for it.
