Non Union Member Steps
Okay, so I'm not a union member ... what can I do for myself when I have a grievance against a line manger and possibly a DOM?
Is there a tumbleweed icon?

Re: Non Union Member Steps
A grievance form? Okay, thanks .... sounds like a pretty simple procedure.

Aye but be succinct about the matternew2me wrote:A grievance form? Okay, thanks .... sounds like a pretty simple procedure.
When calling in just explain your seeking advice
Of you go in guns blazing
You'll achieve Nada
Use a scalpel instead of a hammer
If you don't mind me asking
What's the situation?
I won

Join the union of course. Its more effective having someone else presenting your case.new2me wrote:Okay, so I'm not a union member ... what can I do for myself when I have a grievance against a line manger and possibly a DOM?

Yes, even though you are not in the Union all the processes are the same - just that you won't have the Union there to help and advise. But we will where we can.new2me wrote:Okay, so I'm not a union member ... what can I do for myself when I have a grievance against a line manger and possibly a DOM?

Re: Non Union Member Steps
Join the Union because workers in firms with union recognition get higher pay and the difference is more than £170 a year.
We only get higher pay by using Industrial Action as a lever so the deal is you go on strike when you are called out.
For all other help, including grievances, the provision is patchy because branch elders are not sending reps on training courses and useless reps will do anything to avoid being sent back to work. If you are lucky, you will have someone who knows what they are doing in your branch otherwise you could try and seek help at regional level or do it yourself with a mate to take notes. Never meet management on your own. Always get things in writing (usually e-mails and texts) as this is the only evidence you can realistically rely on. If management do anything that distresses you, take time off and make sure you see your doctor so it goes on your medical record. Don't be vain and take the bullying because you don't want to be seen as a pussy. You are doing the smart thing by getting it on the record management did something that caused you stress.
This is a useful guide:

Re: Non Union Member Steps
Cheers for the input guys.
I am standing my ground on a particular matter, but will not be going down the grievance route at this time. I am willing to believe there might have been a miscommunication with a DOM who i believe has now transferred to another office, rather than a blatant lie from a lino.
