Dear Colleagues,

Royal Mail Business Collections – Delivery of Leaflet

We have just been informed by Royal Mail that as part of their brand marketing campaign, they would like collection drivers who collect from Business premises to distribute a leaflet to each of their business customers during the course of their duties commencing from next Wednesday 30th April through to Tuesday 6th May.
 
The leaflet is part of a campaign to raise business customer awareness regarding the range of services Royal Mail has to offer. There is specific reference to UK Special Delivery Guaranteed and the new International Product Portfolio.
 
The plan is for all business collection drivers to hand one of the leaflets to each and every business collection customer.  Drivers are not required to discuss the details of the products, just to ask customers to take a look at the leaflet and to contact Royal Mail via telephone, website or their Royal Mail account manager (if they have one) should they have any questions.
 
Whilst we have agreed to support this initiative, as we believe it will help with the retention of existing work it should also have the potential to assist in increasing Royal Mail’s share of the market. However we have made it clear to the business that if Royal Mail is serious about working together, then we don’t consider being informed on Friday 25th April about something that our members will be expected to carry out from the 30th April as working together. This has now been acknowledged by Royal Mail.

The embedded slides provide a clearer explanation of the expected sequence of events and should form the basis of any local discussions. It is fair to say that we do not anticipate any serious problems regarding the delivery of the leaflet, but should there be any issues in relation to this initiative then please raise them with your CWU Divisional representatives or the Outdoor department as a matter of urgency.
