Signed off sick

Hi just wanting some advice please.

Without going into to much detail I've been signed off sick by my GP, on the fitness note he ticked that I would be unable to work or be able to return to work on reduced hours etc. I've also been told by the doctor I won't be returning to work until I'm basically feeling well again and he can get to the bottom of what my problem is.
Today I received a letter from my DOM in so many words wanting me to attend a one to one interview with him for me to return to work, working out what I can do. (not had an atol/atos whatever it is interview yet)

The letter i only got today, and expecting me attend tomorrow, I'm unable to contact my union rep at such short notice (which i expect is the idea behind the short notice)
What are my options?

firstly, they have to give you 48hrs notice, so you are ok on that score. secondly, phone the office tomorrow to tell the dom/lino that you havent recieved the required amount of reply time, and that you are not well enough to go in for a face to face anyway. he will probably send you another ''standard' letter out to you but it will be monday at the earliest that you could go in. but keep them informed once or twice a week about your status/health. but you are certainly allowed time before you go in to see him. you are not on their time. not in the early stages of you're absence anyway.

what area are you in ? it will be different phone number for each branch of the union when i say headquarters i dont mean london

Your DOM has to have your consent before a referral can be made to OH Assist and it will be on their recommendation on what level of duty you are capable of performing and NOT your DOM. Assuming that you are on full wages during your absence and your condition allows you to attend for a 1-2-1 then I would suggest that you comply with their request but only until you have made arrangements to be represented at this interview and not before. RM will normally take the OH Assist recommendation before your family GP. You have an active medical certificate showing in the relevant boxes that you are unable to return to work and you make this known to OH Assist in their standard telephone interview.
