TNT and your delivery office.

TNT has started delivering in some parts of UK. Is your delivery office is there ? Has the mail volume gone down ? Less mail to deliver ?

I'm sure there is some impact, we also have been tld that if we have any TNT indicta mail posted in our box for return to sender or redirection they are to be treated as unpaid mail and surcharged accordingly.

My DO is smack bang in the middle of the area tnt are working............. mail volume has indeed taken a nose dive it was even worse before rm regained the council contracts again because tnt fecked it up. They seem to be fecking everything up at the moment which is good and the customers I talk to want all mail to go back to us delivering.
On the flip side, our parcel volume has risen quite a bit but don't know how long that will last as Hermes are now expanding their growth in parcels. I sent a parcel last week by Hermes, signed for cost me £4.68...... Rm signed for would have cost £7.25!!!!

What always makes me laugh is the fact that the bosses tell us to promote a professional image at all times to compete with the competition...... yet that want us to drive around in old vans that look like they have been in a demolition derby go figure!!!!!

i saw a tnt postie taking a piss in a hedge on a busy street yesterday with his bike on the floor next to him. I am amazed royal mail have allowed them to muscle in like this with so little fuss, we dont seem to have a plan of how to deal with them. Work has definatly dropped off in my office and i can only see it getting worse.

One of my line manager told me that " TNT effected " area .... more changes to come and reduncies will be abailabe in August on ward. After the managers cul ... cul will start for ALL front line staff ... regardless to NO change for 3 years.

in my office it means more lapsing so no doubt tnt will be used as a stick to beat us with.

The thickness element of it is a joke, I had a kinder egg (just the yellow plastic bit not the chocolate ) posted to me in a tiny Jiffy bag - because it was more than 25mm thick, just, it cost the sender £2.60. The packet was smaller than my hand and weighed almost nothing, yet we charge the same for that as a shoebox.

However in areas where TNT has begun door-to-door deliveries, Royal Mail workload is reported to have slumped by 15 per cent.

But it's not just deliveries it effects.
That mail isn't going into a mail centre and it isn't being driven to a delivery office.
Those jobs are also under threat.

They should axe the medium parcel rate and scale up the small parcel rate

yeah weve had tnt here for a few weeks an yeah sadly the mails dropped ,,,,,so much so in an office of about 40 walks,,,,,split of about 6 singles and the rest park an loop ,,,our "man in charge" is hinting at 6 walks to be lapsed,,,,hes after us lapsing the holiday walks so no spares needed

In the RDC Network, however, the impact has been catastrophic. EVERY item of Downstream Access mail (DSA) mail that bears a TNT, DHL, UK Mail or other company insignia, that you see every day in one of your offices, is an item of mail that would in the past have been picked up by RM drivers, and conveyed first to an RDC. That is a huge amount of work no longer handled by RDC members.

Only now, when the possibility of some of those DSA items never seeing the inside of a Mail Centre (and thus, a delivery office), are you starting to wake up ???

RM is going to have to focus more on parcels throughout the business, across all types of office. In areas where TNT have started to do end-to-end the % of a walk that is parcels is probably a lot higher.
