Annual leave question..

This sounds daft, but, since our holiday sheet has changed from booking weeks as a block to booking each day to make up the week, i`ve been confused, If you work a five day week do you only book five days of your annual leave to count as a week off?, we have half the office on 1 in 6 and they book all 6 days to get the week (losing one weeks annual leave in the process), somebody said that the guys who do a rolling day off will have to the same!, I have had an allocation of 6 weeks leave for some time I don`t fancy losing a week just because I`m booking days now instead of weeks, question is, is your day off honoured even when your on annual leave?, any help would be appreciated..

With the 1 week off in 6,,, is it cause when your having all those weeks off your not accruing holiday leave,, therefore resulting in a slightly less generous amount of holiday leave,, maybe

No. You get the same leave

5 weeks of 6 days = 30 days

6 weeks of 5 days = 30 days.

They are wrong if you have a rolling day off then you are working 5 days - ergo they can only use 5 days of your entitlement (or the number of hours you are contracted to each week) when you are on leave.

The 1 in 6 duties will still be on a standard hours contract but because they work and use 6 days of leave (or contract +1/5 of their contracted hours).

So a 30 hour a week on a rolling day off uses 30 hours for a weeks leave, where as a 1 week in 6 will use 36 hours.

Since the change over to PSP the leave system has changed to hours so you don't lose anything no matter what weeks you seem to get.

maybe they just put you down for 6 days then after youve took it they change it to 5 days this way youre covered to take the full week has its hard to work out your day off in eight months
