Tracked Items try harder!

We have been told today in our office we must try harder with tracked items in other words if the householder is out at number 9 we must now knock on 11, 13, 15, 17, or back to 7, 5, 3, 1, till we can actually get rid of the item it means if a signature is required give it who ever then put a note on the p739 letting the customer know who has it.
The best bit is if you bring it back to the office there is a sheet in everyone's van and we have to fill in the address, the tracking number, reason why its not delivered and then all the other address's we have tried to deliver it.
Have you ever heard such codswallop in your life? I ain't got time for all that crap.... Oh and our Union man agreed it. Anyone else got to do this crap?

I'm not being funny,but I would do it,however one thing I won't do is go over my time so the more time I spend delivering 1 tracked item the better,play them at their own game

It is almost contradictory... If the tracked items are so important, why give it to neighbours?

Having said the above, there are not always that many, so one can try and get rid, if possible. However, trying so many neighbours will add to delivery time and something is bound to go wrong sooner or later.

I had one today that will go through a letter box but it required a signature and it specified on the parcel that it should not be delivered to a neighbour. So it went back to the office... I think they were tickets for something - rather important - almost like a Special.

I believe there is a national agreement covering delivering to neighbours. The basis of it was that it wasn't mandatory but left to the discretion of the delivery officer.
Is this another agreement that's being creatively re defined by local and sector managers.

There is a few posties in my office that has the p739 wrote out on their break then it's one knock and in goes the card they don't care as long as they finish early. We watched a video only 12 months ago NOT to put and parcels in wheelie bins now if it states on the tracked packet ( put in blue bin) we have been told carry out that arrangement. Personally I think it's the PHGs don't want anything back in the office as it gives them more time eating and playing games on their phone.

Simply follow the correct cutting off procedures and you will still finish on your correct finishing time

What you take out you have to deliver so if you have 10 tracked items its going to have a knock on effect if most are out. You cant say to a manager "I have 10 items they might be out take half a row of me" my walk is over the delivery span as it is.

The sneders know they may be delivered to neighbours and even if it says do not deliver to neighbour that should be ignored and the item delivered correctly as per product spec be that to a neighbour or into the wheely bin if that's where the safe place on the label says

Well there's exactly your problem your not following the correct procedures, you say what you take out you have to deliver, that is not the correct procedure, you don't have to deliver it all, just follow the cutting off procedure and as soon as you realise you won't finish on time, call office and ask for instruction from dom what he wants you to do and inform him that you either are willing to claim ot or are going to cut off and finish on time and bring mail back
