Can they do this? I thought it was all part of an agreement as part of improving the work/life balance of employees?
zx135 wrote:what pattern do they want you to have instead of 1 in 6 saturdays?
Zero Saturdays.
The time for the extra Saturday off is from when we went from a 40 hour week to a 39 hour week. Can only assume they will chop 20 minutes off finishing time every day or something along those lines.
But I thought having extra Saturdays was in some agreement somewhere?

how can you have zero saturdays off? thaqt would mean everyone including all the rota day covers were in every saturday and thus not enough rounds for everyone

Any reps know the official line on this?
How could it cost RM too much money? The hours remain the same except they're just moved around a bit

how does 1in 6 saturdays off improve my work life/balance ?
The 1 in 6 is an extra Saturday off in addition to any rotated day off made up from the extra hour worked every week. So no strictly speaking it isn't 1 in 4, it's 1 extra day every 6 weeks to even up the hours we have worked.
Having an extra Saturday off does improve the work live balance, not by much but it's one extra day for people to spend with their families bringon. Might not help you much but it helps others that's for sure.
As for costing more, I can't work that one out either. If all that's happening is shifting hours about then it should work out even. I think the trouble is some linos have been sent out to cover Saturday walks because they are short staffed, and now the linos are crying because they have to move away from the coffee machine for more than half an hour?!

just tell the manager ,,when he works every saturday till 3 pm ,,, then you are prepared to do the same ,, so when you get back on a saturday at 3pm he better be there ,, EVERY TIME

one in 6 isnt an extra sat off
Ok you have lost me now then. In our office it is 1 in 6 saturdays, it's referred to as 1 in 6 and if you work it it's written on the o/t sheet as 1 in 6. You may call it something else but trust me, where I'm from it's 1 in 6 and it's 1 in 6 Saturdays you get the Saturday off!
So other than debating on what it is called in other offices, does anyone know what the official stance is on this? I guess if it's dealt with as just a change in shift pattern then there is no official answer to it is there or is there?
Your not explaining very clearly, so let's try clear it up, currently how often do you get any saturday off? And secondly how often will you get any saturday off after dom implements his change?
This information matters as depending on what you are getting at the moment will depend on what agreement the dom will be breaching
