Growth in parcels/Sunday delivery next?

Moya Greene is all for a Sunday delivery with rivals like Amazon offering the service now. Is this our 'Agenda for Growth' that our union have signed up for? Would they have even told u in the ballot(bit like the no strike deal) mmmmm NO. Same-old/Same-old union. Might not happen just yet but it's coming it's the only way Royal Mail will b able 2 compete and stay near the top of an increasing 24/7 'I WANT IT NOW' market. Sunday delivery anyone!

At the recent Operations and Modernisation managers conference Moya specifically said that while she would love to introduce Sunday delivery and was still open to reviewing it, she could not see that it would be economically viable. Mr Ward offered enthusiastic support to see if it could be made viable.

With a tweak of the hours not used on Sundays and your normal hours, that could give scope for RM to have you doing a collection at the end of your walk. Or what would happen if RM decided to cut a load of jobs as a result and your job was one of them?

When Dave Ward came to our AGM in Bath a few weeks ago he was asked about sunday deliveries.
He said he was all for it, as it was more work for everyone, so keep everyone in a job but it was not on the adgenda at the moment and him and Moya had just briefly chatted about it.
He said it would only be volunteers on overtime no one forced, or staff taken on for just weekend work.
We shall see.

I'm being pushed to accept hybid duties i.e. no IPS or prep, come in delivery and then either UTR or a collection (what used to be an SA)

This has happened in my office. They got rid of the SA and put collections on the end of delivery.

We used to have Sunday duties in mail centres, as OT or SA. There was no shortage of volunteers. But they were ceased in 2010 iirc to cut costs. All the work was then left until Monday, which caused problems as the early shift on Monday was scrapped, with a Tuesday-Saturday early shift instead.

I say a 30 hour week, some say not enough money to live off. Totally right, spend most money on utilities and housing. RM wants to cut their overheads,like wise we should cut our overheads. Check out the housing markets, the bankers, developers and the bureaucratic machine all feed of it. Cut theses parasites out, our overheads go right down, 30 hour week possible. I am not religious, look at all the conflict through time caused by religion, how much has that cost us, BUT a quiet day once a week for the worker is positive, a day when you have the control and not your master, we are wage slaves, if we were not most of us would of left RM by now.
