Why can the r mail not make Saturdays an earlier finish than they are currently? Mondays finishing times are impossible to make ,so why not make them later? Would be nice to actually get home on Saturday and do things with the family etcx . As a now,,,,parcel company why are we not starting earlier to actually get ppl in,instead of now bringing back loads of undelivered parcels. It's a joke .

In our office we are often out between 0820 and 0845 Saturdays. In fact it's the earliest finish of the week on par with torpid Tuesday. I don't know if this is by design or not, or the fact that sorters, porters and throwing off seem to be done faster for some reason lol...
When we get back between 12 and 1 there is usually no manager left, well I've never seen one after 1pm as far as I remember..

so what items would we leave behind so we can finish earlier on a saturday?

By time you get home on a sat now you're knackered to enjoy you're weekend. And with this swings and roundabouts being only one way it's a killer now. Finish 10 minutes early and you're either told to sit in and take you're break in office or take out bundles someone's left. Not been finished early in ages though. Explain this swings and roundafcks someone pls?

swings and roundabouts is entirely voluntary, you dont need to work a minute over your contracted time if you dont want to

You would need to put extra resources into the mail centre's to accelerate the last mech run to delivery offices. Like they do at Christmas time.

I think the early sat's are finished and wont be seen again.

Yes, I forgot that = we have our own mech sorting machines in the DO which has speeded things up.

The majority of Bank Holidays are Mondays. If managers can trim unit operating costs by adjusting the finish times, Bank Holidays are for taking advantage of.
In our place the time taken off Monday has been added to Friday (as we finish later on a Friday following a BH Monday).

aye, some of that mail is standing in mail centres nearly all week and they decide to send it out to the D.O.s for a saturday morning delivery. why.? got to be deliberate.

Re: Bustedflush comment that in his office the are normally out 8.20 to 8.45 on saturdays. I can only assume they havnt undergone Revision yet I.e shared vans. We have part-time staff who dont start till 9.00am so we dont get out till 9.45/10.00am with lapsingto do as well. As for getting back between 12 and 1, that was few years bac in our place lol, its 3pm now on a saturday, and if you get back early, you're kept in to put door to doors together, until everyone else is back, or untill 2.55pm! And bustedflush complains about his saturday being spoilt lol.

We need a mon to fri ,gives you time for you're body to rewind and get some quality family time .
