Workplace coach

What is the official union stance regarding workplace coaches?
We've always had 1 in place, but they are looking to increase this to at least 3, possibly 4.
Are they just going to be world class dummies or actual work place coaches?
Any info would be helpful.

The workplace coach was originally tasked with training - new entrants and anyone who needed any extra coaching.
The role is morphing into a team leader with World Class Mail bollocks attached.

£30/week for being a pillock? Doesn't seem worth it somehow.

That's my same feelings about them.
In my office, our union leader has put his name forward, which I find weird as he was telling us the union aren't getting involved with this world class rubbish.
I can't find anything official regarding the union's stance.

Until recently I was one but I jacked it in as it was beginning to be less about training new entrants and more about being sent on courses etc. Coaches are going to be acting managers before long.

Ours gets paid for doing nowt.
They don't `train` anybody as we have had no new starters in years ,they did do the LWT training about 3 and a half years ago that was the last time they did any `training` but nobody uses the trolleys, including the two said workplace coaches( one who has been off with a back problem ) the DOM is a cock and his bulling staff make you a pariah if you dare to use one.

I suspect that the reason they are talking about increasing the numbers of work place coaches is so that when DOMs loose their jobs and return to being posties, they will be given coaches jobs so their salaries will not fall as much.

I believe that Managers including those on the acting list are currently excluded at the on-line application stage for the new roles.

This role has indeed changed since it's conception, I was one of the first coaches, partly because I did it anyway and because I cared, these days IDGAF, when they changed the role of WPC and added the Managerial certification, that was enough for me
althou I will always empathise with WPC's I will not aid & abet them
