just learnt will be delivering polling cards for local elections at the end of may on easter saturday.the same scenario happened last year,with 2 days mail to deliver,shorter working day,and minimal staffing it was taking up to 4 hours to prep rounds leaving only 2 hours for delivery of first class items.hence we all cut off leaving thousands of items till the following tuesday,causing amassive failure. i can see it going tits up again,but is it the same all over the country or is it just our local management believing that crucifixtion is not just for jesus on this weekend.

If its been sent as first class, second class or downstream access then they have to be delivered or attempted to be delivered its not management's decision its the decision of the council when they send them out, just simply work to your time and then let the managers deal with the cut offs

The 2014 United Kingdom local elections are scheduled to be held on 22 May 2014 as provided by the 'Local Elections (Ordinary Day of Elections in 2014) Order 2013'. Usually these elections are held on the first Thursday in May, but they will be put back from 1 May to 22 May to coincide with the 2014 European Parliament Elections on that date.

how can you be so sure they will come on easter saturday ?

That was my thought.
Someone in the know? Perhaps, working for the council's printers.
Be difficult to pin down that far ahead I would have thought.
Are we handling them or are they coming down the DSA route.
Either way, hard to put a firm date on, surely?

Only at some DOs krussel - different offices have different amounts I think 6p is the max and around 2.6p or 3p for the minimum.

why would council chiefs want them sent out on easter saturday.?? are they ex-post office gaffers...they must all be tarred with the same brush.....they make me sick.

Holy Saturday is 19th April. Easter Saturday (more formally, "Saturday in Easter week") is 26th April. It's not Easter until Easter day, which this year is 20th April.
