TNT in Liverpool

Heard today that TNT starting deliveries in Liverpool,does anyone know if its all Liverpool postcode areas? Worrying development in any case.

I think tnt are taking the piss , offcom should tell them if you want to delivery you work under the same rules as royal mail , every address and 6 days a week and royalmail should tell them to shove all there dsa mail up there arse and see how long they last . its a f***ing joke.

Can you imagine how long our present rounds would take if we had to do that? If this is indeed true then I dare say they have faster and more reliable equipment than we have. You also have to wonder if TNT will continue to shove their pkts to us via downstream access.

Zero hour contracts, cherry picking areas, no packet delivieries and lets see how they get on in the winter, getting up to earn minium wage.

Exactly what are we going to do about it both as employees and union members, particularly union members when the CWU is recruiting TNT staff to boost membership from falling numbers in RM? It's inevitable that parts of delivery will be cherry picked. Perhaps RM will take a leaf out of TNTs modus operandi and do three day alternate deliveries - who knows. I say again what are we going to do about it .............it may even be part of the AFG 2014 how would we know?

If the CWU can get more members within TNT than the psuedo Union - then it may be possible to combine their industrial strength in any dispute and perhaps help in bringing TNT workers up to our T&Cs rather than us down to them. Solidarity is not just a word its an ethos.

Really? You don't see a conflict of interest here - the CWU negotiating terms and conditions for what in real terms is a competitor - more likely we WILL be dragged down to their level because neither they nor us will go on strike. Lets be realistic here they struggle making a fist of just RM employees judging from the last 2 agreements - now how multitasking do you think they are, apart from walking and breathing at the same time.

But TNT is the competitor, the workers are are just people trying to make a living, so should be welcome in the union, but I do agree under the leadership of Dave and billy, RM workers are more likely to be dragged down to TNTs t&c than TNTs workers bought up to yours.

RMT has members in London Underground, Bus Companies, Train Companies and even Taxi firms, and not just in London they have members across the UK and some members are in business which are in competition with each other,
