Hi guys,
Last few days I've been having meetings with management about this cause DOM got one of our posties to fix the walks that planner screwed by making them too big everyone refused to help apart from this guy so what happened was he looked after his mates silly people that he asked questions what they needed to lose in their rounds to get it done took the piss and made it too easy so what happened now is the Dom made nearly half of the CDV's Part Time so Basically the senior guys will be shafted I've been fighting this Cause i think it's not fair people that just got into the door will get a duty and full timers are going to be made reserves the Area rep hasn't answered his phone for a 2 days now i'm running out of ideas how to fight this can you guys give me a hand please ;)

and breath. I would ask what constitutes a p/t walk nowadays. All the outdoor spans should be pretty much the same so it doesn't matter if a f/t or a p/t staff members picks any walk. The thing that changes is the indoor element. I can't see why nowadays any office will have a re pick with speerate full time and part time walks. This isn't then a re pick as the top person would not be able to pick any walk in the office, they would be limited to what they pick.

Basically what i said to him outdoors walks are all the same roughly even though i know some of this were made far too easy( i didn't mention this to the DOM obvs....) cause of people that didn't listen to me in first place and thought the DOM wanted to sort them out so they took loads of roads off the walks and he then made another 4 CDVs out of the roads people basically didn't fancy it and they thought they were it cause they fooled the DOM but it backfired like i said it would!! so now he as a lot of people who start later to come in and go and do them after people prepped them and he claims that such duties are only worth per example 30 hours so only a PT can go on it so basically whoever gets hired now will get a nice cutchy walk and FT will be reserves i am thinking of telling him do bring a proper planner in as it was a postman who (fixed) them...

why didnt you get involved in the planning to make sure all tfhe routes were done equally?

Right update on this 12 walks will be made part time meaning that people that been in my place for the likes of 7,9 some of them even 12 years will be FT reserves but part timers don't have any seniority whatsoever and they will land a duty and people than been there more time will be treated like crap any ideas are welcome cause i don't know what to do anymore....

Quite simply the duties are what the office will stand on the revision. There must not be enough indoor work to sustain the present configuration.

All I can add is the same thing has happened in many other offices and the system seems to work with planners and managers alike...

There is very little you can do with the ft/pt combinations; it is just tough that some will lose in this new scenario - there are always winners and losers.

BTW, the walks cannot be made to favour people directly because the repicks are going to throw out many different combinations and some of the less senior part timers will get walks or even floating jobs...

People should get involved in the planning otherwise what's the point complaining afterwards.

Lastly, there should still (should always) be some room for adjustments to walks that are either too big or small. Most offices have a period of piloting the walks...

it is also crucial that everyone in the office does their job exactly as planned for next few weeks(should be doing it all the time but im a realist and know that people will start taking short cuts), no short cuts, use the trollies exactly as intended, work from back of vans etc, make sure everyone takes breaks and no one comes in early, do the 16% of d2d each day, explain to them for the next few weeks its in their interest to do everything completely by the book, it will add extra hours into the office, get part timers hours increased and even get bits of full time walks take off duties, but only if everyone in the office plays their part


as for the part time duties, technically there is no reason to have them, every out door duty should be same length so no matter what duty someone is on it should be able to be completed by a part timer, however it makes for easier planning by having them and also benefits the part timers as they may have had to start later to accommodate being a passenger in a ft duty holders van who is not due out till an hour after the part timers current start time

It's re-sign NOT resign. Resign means resign (rɪˈzaɪn)
