Revision and new contract

Hi guys just a quick question. Our office is going through revision. The picks are done and looks like we are a go for Monday. As i was clocking my OT today the DOM said that my hours had change as off Monday from 20 to 30, i knew this was coming but nice to finally get it confirmed.

My question is that my 1st 6 month contract is up on the 13th of April. Been told by line managers not to worry as it will get extended. The thing is with the revision am i right to hope for a perm contract as they should know how many people they need now and what hours. The office had a job on the website for 30 hours perm so my thinking is i might been able to get a perm contract.

If you do get made permanent you will be very lucky!!! But saying that it's always a possibility. Fingers crossed for you.

permanent contract would be dependant on where you are on the pecking order but if a permanent duty has been advertised then there is nothing stopping you from applying.

We had our office revision over a year ago. Many 25 and 30 hour contracts were promised to have them changed to 32 (4 day week) Yes you guessed it, still waiting. Full timers have left and retired in the past year and their duties are covered by part timers and told to book the overtime, the verbal promise ain't worth the paper it's written on.
Royal Mail is built on delivered letters and parcels by frontline staff and undelivered promises by management.

When you go through the revision process there is a part for local objectives.
We made having everyone on a permanent contract our local objective.
And that's what happened.

There is also a part of the Revision process that includes CONCURRANCE, which basically means that you have enough bums on seats to make the Revision work,this also helps to formulate the TM1 which is the office Template to make the office work supposidly, DO NOT SIGN OFF REVISION (PIR) until ALL local issues have been resolved

Update from today. I've now got my own duty despite being there only 6 months. Seems that 8 or so dutys had to be part time and after they bumped the 30 hour contracts upto full time i was the 2nd most senior 30 contract. Me and the 3 others who started about 6 months ago are now duty holders where as some 10+ vets are reserves. Don't agree with the way it has turned out but will take it.

Still to speak to the DOM about the permanent contract but one of the other guys was told it would be on a permanent contract.
