I have plenty of holiday time left so when I found out my daughter was getting married In July I applied for one day off only to be told the days are fully booked up and not to worry something would be worked out.Should I be worried ? or should I trust what the management says. (this could be a first for me).

Get your application in now for ad-hoc leave from your holiday entitlement or on special leave. You are giving then adequate time over the 14 days notice for ad-hoc leave for management to make arrangements to cover your duty. If your are advised to put your request in nearer the time your reply is I am giving you 3 months notice for duty to be covered.

And if it all goes pear shaped just say "I'm sorry but I won't be in on Saturday as I will be at my daughters wedding".
