Stepped out of the van at the weekend and landed on the wrong side of my foot, GP wrote me a line for two weeks and an Xray revealed a chipped bone. Been with RM a year and a half and only been off sick one day.. is there anything else I need to do or consider?
*I was wearing the correct footwear etc

Get an accident report done even if your manager refuses.
They may try to put all of the blame on you, so be aware of that, and if necessary make remarks on state of footwear, replacement delays, environmental conditions etc.
You will likely be staged when you return if it goes over 13 or 14 days (dependent on when the 1 day sickness was). Ask for a referral to ATOS because they may expect you to return to a full duty even if you don't feel fit enough.

The 1 day sickness was actually last tuesday which doesnt look good the day after St Patricks day even though I was genuinely sick and spent monday and tues in bed with cold sweats etc.. I expected it to happen as the wife and kids had it the week prior.. Make sure that your accident is recorded in the works accident book and that an ERICA is completed and not a HERICA which management will try to enforce as an incident and not an actual accident. Management will also attempt to state that you completed an unsafe act which is not the case. As TBT has stated request a referral to ATOS to have your medical condition discussed and they will give a rehab programme.

One stumble and you get a staged warning? Thats a bit mad.. Accidents happen :/
The boss doesnt think it will come to a warning however he did mention it would look better to strap it up and come back after a week off :S
