Just heard it on the news. It is supposed to be mainly from the Managerial section. I am so glad I'm out of it now. Fort he last ten years I was there, you had to live with the constand insecurity of the job. Next on the agenda, despite what the Union has 'agreed' it will be loss of hours reduction in pay gor the grass roots. Slwly but surely they will sneak in one little change at a time, from unpaid bank holidays, lower overtime rates etc. Good luck to you all!

And yet they are still recruiting for managerial grades I would imagine the army of WCM managerial grades will be offered the golden handshake. There's not likely to be a shortage of managers ready to jump ship. If the recent spate of recruits is anything to go by we are on the slippery slope to oblivion.

Bring it on. It's about time the bloated management blubber level was slimmed down! I hope it extends down to line manager level in the DO's. Ours need some slimming down that's for sure.

Joint statement to follow They're paid too much for too little, but there won't be a problem getting rid of the first 1600 but the succeeding cuts? Still as has been quoted so often "its an overarching aim to avoid compulsory redundancies" unless of course it's not in the interests of the company.

What makes it a joke is the lack of consultation but on the + side we might get rid of some dead wood but then again maybe not

Basically this means that every manager at Royal Mail over... I don't know... 55 or 57, gets to retire early. Gosh. That sounds tough. Spending time with the grandkids, going on hol, it'll be a nightmare.

Meanwhile, with a bunch of people near the top of the food chain leaving, another bunch gets promoted, with fatter paychecks to boot. Sure, there might be the odd DOM squeezed out here or there but honestly? This sounds like an easy win for the managers.

I imagine what this will mean is another reduction in support service staff - managerial and administrative, a change in the organisation structure from the 5 "Geographies" / 21 Delivery Areas to something smaller and perhaps a re-amalgamation of processing, logistics and delivery at more senior level. I don't see a huge change in DO management.

It isn't a surprise and was clearly signalled at the "Operations & Modernisation Managers Conference" a few weeks ago. As soon as OFCOM made it clear that they weren't going to do anything to stop TNT until we had significantly reduced our costs it was inevitable.
