Removal of hours and medical retirement

Hope someone can answer this question.

Our delivery office is due to lose approx 100 hours due to budget requirements. Unfortunately a postie has been medically retired and the manager seems to think he can simply use this to cut 30 hours by simply not replacing him. Is this allowed , or does he have to fill the vacancy and then deal with the office hours being reduced separately?

Yes, about 18 months ago.

then simply lodge a stage 1 disagreement about the reduction in hours, you have an agreed work load, your office has gone through the revision and has a model week agreed, advise them you want the staffing brought back up to the level agreed in the model week,

Also how many staff do you have in your office?

Somewhere in the region of 50.

ok then if you have vacancies over 5% ie 3 vacancies then part of the Way Forward agreement is that they should be filled staright away, else a maximum of 6 months of the duty(or resultant duty if theres a lot of changes in duty because of it) becoming vacant to get it filled

He cannot just remove the hours out of the office unless you agree to it, yes he has been given a target by his area manager, but dont even agree to a 1 hour reduction, after losing hours your not going to get them back very easily, so fight tooth and nail to keep them as they are
