Government Support?

Hi Comrades

I am glad to report that there is massive support at my workplace in Somerset. It's so good to be able to chat to colleagues on the picket line, even if it is freezing.

I understand that the Tories wish to appoint a government minister to be in control of Royal Mail once again, assuming they win the next general election. Why is this Labour government not attempting to look after the working people they claim to have represented over the past hundred years? It's a disgrace that these clowns (Leighton and Crozier) are left to ruin this public service, especially as it's still a nationalised industry. What Labour said in opposition seems different to their actions over the past ten years.

I haven't financed the bastards since 1998 comrade. I'd rather lick my own arse than fund that set of ward closing, school shutting, baby bombing, pension robbing, anti-union scum. I'm for peace and the international solidarity of the working class, so I've got nothing in common with that shower of s**t.

I certainly am in the CWU and the UPW/UCW before it. I opted out of the political fund in 1998 when I was the office rep and got about 90% of the rest of the office to do likewise.

I think you are right. There is no 'opt out' clause on the new membership forms. That's because on the old yellow forms you could just tick a box to opt out and quite a few people were doing just that once Blair's motives became apparent, so they dropped the 'opt out' box from the forms. Then Class War Federation, Solidarity Federation and the IWW printed leaflets informing people they could opt out and how to go about it if they wanted to. They dropped these in pillar boxes around the country. In our case, I kept on trying to get opt out forms from the then Branch Sec for weeks, but he was a Labour councillor and refused to let us have them. We got them in the end though. The weekly amount is coppers, but the feeling of knowing you aren't funding that mob is beyond price.
All we need now is for supermarket chains and breweries to allow us to opt out of the portion of their profits which go towards funding the Tory scum.
