Our new depot manager started this week,she is a young lady 22 straight out of university.On her second day she advises our union rep that there will be a complete change in the layout of our depot,double sided frames,porters etc.
on her fourth day she is asked by a couple of our posties wether she is going to do anything about some of our park and loop rounds that are impossible to complete in time and everyday people are going over their hours to finish to which she replies
"I dont believe they are too large its just the officers who are doing them are not working hard enough".
Finally yesterday due to a large number of staff being on sick leave a number of walks are lapsed and she is forced to go out with our floor manager to cover a part of a walk,she is allocated two roads and yes youve guessed it she delivers the mail to the wrong roads........University education,you can keep it.
Not the best way to start a new job

If she is so sure that the officers aren't working hard enough, then why doesn't she show you all how it's done?

Sounds like anyone's first week. It's going to be full of mistakes. Anyone can easily mis deliver mail whether you have a degree or not. For a young female in a male dominated work force it sounds like she has put you all in your place.

this woman is going to learn a very hard lesson if she carries on the way she is, she can look forward to her whole workforce doing the least they can get away with.

A week in is far too early to suggest that.
Many ex-postmen haven't made good managers, because if they had such qualities they wouldn't have been postmen to start with, so it's no surprise RM are taking on graduates straight out of university.
And didn't we all make mistakes on our first week or two ?

This could just be the start of things to come, most of the posts on here highlight how sh1t the current delivery managers are, in our office every manager we've had started out as a postman and guess what they were all the biggest bunch of lazy bullying no decision making useless idle tw4ts that you would ever have the misfortune to have as your boss.

Imho just because they've never done a delivery doesn't mean they can't manage a delivery office, personally I'd much prefer to work for someone who got everyone on side and you could approach with an issue if required and get a professional response rather than just a fobbing off from someone who quite obviously can't be arsed and who's top priority is to get off home early.

As far as I'm concerned bring it on make the current management fight for their jobs against people who actually want to work for a living and make a difference.
