6 month contract terminated early.

I started my contract in mid-January. I got a letter today saying that they're considering terminating my contract. I'm not the only one to have received a letter like this. Any other offices having this problem? I'm supposed to go to a meeting about this tomorrow.

Wow. This is the first I have EVER heard of them not extending contracts.

A woman I work with was told her contract probably wouldn't be extended, she's an excellent postie and I'd never heard of it happening before. In the end it didn't and she still works with us now a couple of years later.

Yes. I don't know any more than that. A few of us got taken on temporarily. Now we're being told that our contracts may be terminated. None of us have done anything wrong. It sounds like a money-saving thing.

I've just had my 6 month temp contract renewed with another 6 month temp and on the contract is says "It is likely your contract will cease after this period". It's the same with the other new comers.....

Good luck to RM if they get rid of 6 collection drivers when they struggle to cope when just 1 person calls sick.

Sadly this may be true. Part of their profit making master plan is to introduce more lapsing. In doing this they may well be looking at shedding people and unfortunately temp contracts personnel are the easiest for them to cull .

Yeah, they already cut the overtime to nothing. No staff and now no temps. Gonna be fun!

They use the same terminology on all contract renewal notices .. it doesn't necessarily mean your contract won't be renewed at the end of your current contracted period .. it's just Human Resource speak for "we can't make any promises" .......

It's happened in our office too. Maybe it's time to start looking for a new job now rather than week a week before my contract runs out only be told I'm no longer needed.

My contract doesn't run out until July though!

Is it your first 6 month contract or has yours been renewed before?

I was taken on earlier this year on a three-month contract. It's now been made permanent so not all offices are cutting back, it seems!
