Annual Holidays - Part time worker

Dear all,


1)How many paid holidays are entitled to a person working on a 25 hour contract. He started work on Dec 2013.
2)During the RM interview holidays were mentioned to the interviewer and also to the HR dept of RM. Do you think RM will honour those holiday period even I started work recently.

you are entitled to the same as everyone else.

22.5 days a year with more added after certain amounts of time.

if you tell them that you had booked a holiday before you started at RM, then they will honour it.

On a similar note what is a jobsharer entitled to?..

If I was a part-timer on 19.5 hrs a week I'd be entitled to the full 22 days, but as a jobsharer working 39 hours every other week I'm only entitled to 11 days... is this right??

yes I think it would be right as you are only working 26 weeks of the year and not 52 :)

If you worked full time you would receive 22 full days off, but as you work half the amount of days you only get half the amount of full days off. The part timers day off is only 3.9 hours, but each day off you receive is 7.8 hours.

If a full timer worked for 6 months they would be entitled to 11 days holiday.......... so it sounds correct to me.

19.5 hours / 5 days = 3.9 hours per day X 22 days off = 85.8 hours annual leave
39 hours / 5 days = 7.8 hours per day X 11 days off = 85.8 hours annual leave

Also remember the much ignored entitlement to Bank Holidays.

The entitlement to these is based upon your number of days worked per week, not your number of contracted hours.

Here is the entitlement, (based upon the usual 8 days bank holiday per year).

• Working 1 day per week receives 1.5 days bank holiday.
• Working 2 days per week receives 3 days bank holiday.
• Working 3 days per week receives 5 days bank holiday.
• Working 4 or more day per week receives 8 days bank holiday.

It doesn't matter how the days off fall for any particular duty, the entitlement remains the same.

Basic entitlement is 22.5 days

Leave year runs from 1 April - 30 March

So you are entitled to 1.875 days per month

- Yours in particular if you started 1 November is 5 month = 9 days (plus change)
if nearer December then 7.5 days.
