Fact finding meeting

I might be in the s**t after a mistake today.
Not to give too much away but if the manager tried to spring a fact finding meeting on me ( they have a history of being a bit underhand) and I can't ask the office rep to attend, can I have the meeting deferred until I can get the area rep to attend?

You have a legal right to have representation at any meeting that may lead to disciplinary action and the possibility of your dismissal. Some reps prefer to wait until it becomes a formal conduct code interview before they attend but that is a matter of choice for your local rep.

But you can ask for the Area Rep/someone else from branch.
Though, there is the chance that they may be good mates so....

It does not have to be a rep at fact finding level. You can take along a friend. Its just so you have some back up if something is said to you which you feel is wrong.

Removing the rep element for a second, I was told many moons ago that in a blue on blue situation the local rep(s) should put in a request to branch for two reps of equal standing. Therefore if you are having an area rep your rep is entitled to A.N.Other area rep

you need any paper work 48 hrs before meeting.
