Have you time in your working day to take any more mail than what you have on your frame? If the answer is yes every day then expect to take some every day, if the answer is yes some days then expect to take some on those days, if the answer is no because i start on time, do 1/6th of d2d's a day, take my full breaks and use the proper equipment for the round then don't do any extra at all.

It would depend on the model week being used and if traffic is below model week.
It would depend on the f/t to p/t ratio in the offices.
It might also depend on who is on holiday/off sick etc.

If your model week is 60 000 items/day and on a given day you have 30 000 items in the office what difference is starting on time, taking your break and using your trolley going to make?
Your indoor workload (and probably your outdoor) will be severely reduced and there will be opportunities for lapsing.

But that only relates to your outdoor workload.
If you only have 600 items to prep instead of 1300 or if you are only on IPS for 40 minutes instead of 90 then your indoor workload allows lapsing opportunities.
And that may be dependant on the arrival time of your second wave or whatever but this idea that "doing the job properly" means you don't have to lapse ever is just rubbish.

I don't start early. I use my trolley. I don't cut corners. I do 1/6th of my D2D daily.
On some days there is not sufficient work to fill my contracted hours, consequently there is lapsing.
I could work slowly and pretend I have enough work, or I could slope off the IPS for 30 minutes and leave my colleagues to cover my workload. Neither of those options appeal to me.
Lapsing to fill all your contracted hours is as agreed with CWU.

You can sit with your feet up if you think that is the honest way to behave.
I don't think the feckless and the workshy are going to save RM or our jobs.

Management told them to start on time and take their breaks I foresee it not lasting to long.
