Pay rise - Salary info

Dear all,


I started working for RM mid of December 2013 on a 3 months 25 hours contract basis.
1) I have already renewed my contract twice and now it runs till September 2014. Is this normal? Renew contract even when i haven't completed 3 months yet.
2) Also I found that my salary has been increased by .30 pence during my 2 month of work. Travelling allowance has been increased as well. Is this the normal procedure.
3) Can i now order a uniform and shoes as my contract is 6 months.
4) Just wondering what sort of hourly rate a postman of 2+ years working for RM receive?

It seems every poster on here recently is part-time, and on a temp. contract. In our office less than 50% are full-time (39 hrs.)

As for your questions, you get a pay rise usually after the first 6 months (50p) and after 12 months (another 50p) which takes you to your terminal rate before any pay rises each April. As for travel, I can't comment I'll leave that to others who know.
Your contract being renewed longer is good, a sign of intent they want to keep you, again normal. Uniform you are entitled to safety gear from day 1, and your uniform should arrive in a big box after a few weeks, you should not have to wait 6 months, get your DOM to put an order through for you. After 6 months you can order replacement stuff online yourself I believe. RM can't make you work with inadequate uniform for 6 months. Did you not get a sheet before you started asking you your size for various items like boots, trainers, trousers and coats etc? which you give to the DOM.

As for the 30p, this might be a London thing, not heard of that before.

30per hour approximately would be the 3% pay increase.
