Hi
I've had a look round for a download but can't find one.
I want to know how many times you can be sick within a year etc. and if you go over it when they can sack you.
When is the slate wiped clean and you can relax again?
Thanks

Re: Rules when when on sick leave
sorry but its not that simple. In essence its 4 absences or 14 days within a 12 month rolling period which kicks off the attendance procedure (see link) and then if your attendance does not improve during certain limits you can be put on a Stage 3 which is were they can sack you.Krafty wrote:Hi

Of course if they think any sick absence is not genuine then they can deal with you outside the attendance procedure.

Re: Rules when when on sick leave
Stage 1: Incurred 4 absences or 14 days.
Stage 2: Incurred 2 absences or 10 days
Stage 3; Incurred 2 absences 0r 10 days Dismissal Considered.
All in a rolling 12 month period.
If you have triggered a stage 1 in the new attendance procedure after 6 months with no further absences the slate is wiped clean as opposed to the former Attendance procedure which would have stayed on record for 12 months.
The new procedure has informal and formal interviews at the discretion of the investigating manager but experience tells me most will automatically go for the formal interview and at the 1st stage it would be up to you to provide reasonable circumstances and on merit for the investigating manager not to issue a 1st stage warning.
Stage 2: Incurred 2 absences or 10 days
Stage 3; Incurred 2 absences 0r 10 days Dismissal Considered.
All in a rolling 12 month period.

Thanks for the replies.
Would have replied sooner but was not well enough to go online the last couple of weeks or so.

Stage 1 is in a 12 month period, stages 2 and 3 are within a 6 month period.rehabron wrote:Stage 1: Incurred 4 absences or 14 days.

There should be nothing automatic about anything in the new attendance procedure. Every case should be treated on its merits. It is up to the manager involved to justify why he hasn't gone down the informal route as opposed to the formal Attendance Review.

Can you do 14 days sick, the 15th triggering the stage. Or is the stage triggered on the 14th day?

If you are off sick for 4 absences or 14 days in any 12 month period then consideration will be given to whether a stage 1 interview is appropriate.
